Moe Shour on How He Sees Arab Women: “Independent, Strong & Confident”

An Exclusive Interview with the International Designer Moe Shour

From A-list celebrities such as Penelope Cruz and Nancy Ajram to high-end clientele, Lebanese designer Moe Shour’s collections are designed and made for confident women with high taste. Shour truly believes that each woman has her own beauty and everything she wears must mirror that divine grace and femininity.

We had the pleasure of meeting Moe Shour back in 2014, when we held our first Bespoke Event and Fashion Show where we chose six significant international designers and fortunately Moe Shour was one of them. Today in 2017 after three years, we had the chance of chatting exclusively with Moe Shour about his latest Fall/Winter 2017-2018 collection and his work and passion as a fashion designer in an exclusive trunk show.

– When did you know you wanted to become a fashion designer?

“I graduated from the American University in London with an International Business Bachelor’s degree and as life moved on I realized that this is not the right path for me so I took a course for Fashion Designing at Central Saint Martins in London.”

– Tell us about your latest collection. What was your inspiration?

“Many ideas and inspirations came to my mind throughout the seasons, but perhaps my main inspiration was confident, feminine and independent women as this is how I see Arab women…I believe that each woman must feel confident in her beauty and my designs reflect all types of beauty and femininity.”

“I aim to give women all around the world confidence and reflection of their inner and outer beauty when they wear my designs…in another word, I want them to turn heads wherever they go.”

– Describe your style in one word.

– What are the hottest bridal trends in 2018?

“Voluminous skirts are back, regal looks, cathedral trains, and veils…I believe that a bride must look regal and elegant on her big day”.

“A bridal dress should be royal, rich and classical, it shouldn’t be funky”

– What was the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced with a bride?

“Not knowing her style and personality…and not giving me a base to work with”

– What are your favorite fabrics to work with and why?

“Delicate fabrics like Silk, Guipure and lace in general as they reflect the maximum femininity and allure.”

– Do you like using embroidery and embellishment or do you prefer simplicity?

“It varies from one collection to another but when it comes to the latest collection I loved adding metal flowers and floral appliques as they give life to the dress.”

-Name a celebrity or royalty you would like to dress?

Charlize Theron, and if Lady Diana was still alive she would be on top of my list.”
